With promotion now secured, the building to the top starts for Leeds United.

Step one has seemingly been completed by Paraag Marathe as the Leeds owner is moving on to bigger and better things.

Marathe has a £100m plan at Leeds which will see a transfer overhaul in signings take place this summer.

It’s a promise laid out and it’s one the 49ers need to achieve after a few lacklustre summers.

The fans won’t believe anything until words have been put into action, and after what he said in February, this should be a strong possibility.

Paraag Marathe has already revealed Leeds United investment plans

After a dismal January at Elland Road, Daniel Farke was ‘jealous’ of clubs making signings as he clearly wasn’t satisfied with his squad.

This proves even more how well Farke has done this season, with Leeds completely trumping clubs around them in all aspects, most specifically goal-scoring.

Although impressive, the Leeds boss will want investment, and Marathe will make sure he doesn’t have to worry about that anytime soon.

Speaking back in February on if promotion is secured this season, the Whites owner made it clear what the plan was moving forward and why fans can get excited.

“Unfinished business, so much potential, so many places we want to take this club, and I feel really optimistic about where we are going,” Marathe said.

“Hopefully, in a few months get back to where we want to be and take off from there.

“Pushing the limits of PSR, staying within the rules, is what we want to do. A winning club is a healthy club. We want to put every pound back into the team.”

Marathe can’t be trusted after previous promise at Leeds

Although this is an exciting statement, the jury is still out on Marathe taking words into action.

One thing he has succeeded in is the development of Elland Road, as Marathe hopes for a 53,000 expansion.

This is exciting, but Leeds fans shouldn’t get too carried away after his ‘pushing the limits’ claim.

Marathe pledged Leeds would be ‘aggressive’ in windows, but there were no real signs of that in either the summer or January.

Leeds United’s permanent signings in the summer of 2024
Joe Rodon£11m
Largie Ramazani£10m
Jayden Bogle£5m
Isaac Schmidt£4.6m
Ao Tanaka£3m

Although they were strong transfers which have helped Leeds’ promotion, it didn’t exactly scream ‘aggressive’.

This is something Marathe can correct with this new promise as the hope is, Leeds will be spending big.
