‘Must accept’… 23-year-old Leeds player told he needs to get stronger and be braver in tackles now

Leeds United’s loanees have certainly had a mixed time of it since leaving in the summer.

The Whites saw a number of their first team players depart the club in the wake of relegation, with two of them having already secured permanent transfers elsewhere.

Robin Koch signed a four-year-deal with Eintracht Frankfurt in January, while Luis Sinisterra joined Bournemouth on a long-term contract for around £20 million earlier this month.

However, for some their future is still very much up in the air and so there is work to be done if they want to seal a permanent exit from Leeds, and one of those is Brenden Aaronson, who finally scored his first goal at club level since August 2023 at the weekend.

But that has not stopped Union Berlin director Oliver Ruhnert from telling him where he needs to improve, with commentator Derek Rae relaying what he said on X earlier this week.

Aaronson told where he needs to improve

He said: “With Brenden it comes down to the fundamental theme. Brenden is a super footballer who must accept the fact that in football a certain physical aspect is needed to win the ball & contest challenges.”

These comments won’t come as much of a surprise to Leeds fans and it certainly isn’t the first time he has had something like this aimed at him over the last 18-24 months.

That said, finally breaking his duck at Union is a big step in the right direction for him and perhaps it will represent the start of him getting some sort of form back.

It is highly unlikely he will ever comeback to Leeds and so despite the animosity towards him and the rest of the loanees, it will be good for the club if he shows some decent form between now and the end of the season.

Leeds won’t recoup anywhere near the £25 million they paid Red Bull Salzburg to sign him back in 2022, but he could at least generate some level of interest as long as this goal is a sign of things to come.
