‘Massive’… David Seaman shares what he thinks will happen if Leeds lose to Ipswich at the weekend

David Seaman has given his thoughts on Leeds United’s automatic promotion hopes ahead of tomorrow’s match with Ipswich Town.

Leeds go into the game 10 points adrift of their opponents, who sit in the second automatic promotion spot after a record breaking start to the season.

Sky Sports pundit Jobi McAnuff has already claimed that all the pressure is on Leeds heading into the game, as they cannot afford to drop too many more points if they want the top two.

And speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, the former Arsenal goalkeeper has echoed those thoughts, suggesting that Leeds just need to find a way to win any way they can.

He is also slightly worried about how large the gap could look if Leeds were to fail to take three points, but is backing Daniel Farke’s side to come out on top.

Leeds will need attacking players to perform

He said: “That’s a massive game for us! This is a must win for Leeds because otherwise that gap, you can see it just getting bigger and bigger. I’ll go for any Leeds win!”

Though Farke, Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon have been quick to play down the size of the gap at this stage of the season, there is no doubt that Leeds can’t really afford for it to get much bigger than it already is.

Leeds are going to need their ‘unplayable’ front four to be right at their best on Saturday, and Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna has already recognised the importance of his side stopping them.

Andy Hinchcliffe, though, believes Leeds will actually be the side more ‘worried’ heading into the game given how good Ipswich have been – scoring the most goals in the division.

That said, if Ipswich open up like they did in the first game at Portman Road when Leeds ran out 4-3 winners, it could actually play into the Whites’ hands, given their strength on the counter.
