Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna has been speaking ahead of his side’s trip to Leeds United on Saturday.
The Tractor Boys head into the match 10 points clear of Leeds ahead of this weekend’s huge meeting at Elland Road, occupying the second automatic promotion place.
Sky Sports pundit Jobi McAnuff believes the pressure is off the visitors given the current gap between the two sides, and it is hard to disagree due to how far Leeds could fall behind with a defeat.
But there is no doubt Leeds have the ability to get the better of Ipswich, as was proven in the 4-3 win at Portman Road back in August, which is still their only home defeat of the season.
And speaking in his pre-match press conference, McKenna has highlighted Leeds’ ‘big attacking threat’ as something that has really impressed him this season, particularly at home.
Leeds attack can be decisive
He said: “We know it’s going to take a top, top, top performance to get anything from the game. They’re a big attacking threat, especially at home. They’ve been dominant in their home games this season and we know we’re going to have to perform really, really well to be in the game.”
As was shown back in August, Ipswich are not afraid to play their usual football regardless of their opponent, but that could actually play into Leeds’ hands.
Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca believes Leeds are the best counter attacking side in the Championship and so if Ipswich do open up, Daniel Farke’s side can take advantage.
However, Sky Sports pundit Andy Hinchcliffe believes Leeds will be ‘worried’ about how Ipswich could hurt them, and rightly so given they are the highest scorers in the division.
It certainly has all the makings of a Championship classic and so hopefully Leeds bring their best with what is on the line.
