Manager who ‘tactically outwitted’ Daniel Farke now open to taking the Leeds United job

With Daniel Farke’s Leeds United future now firmly under the radar, different candidates might be in the frame.

Although it seems like Farke is staying at Leeds, it’s never known what can happen in the weeks to come.

It seems like the 49ers could give the German the chance to compete in the Premier League with Leeds and deservedly so after such a good season.

The only factor letting Farke down is his Premier League experience after only amassing 21 points in his one full top-flight season with Norwich City.

Jose Mourinho could be open to Leeds in what would be an extraordinary appointment, but another who has been mooted has already outclassed Farke.

Russell Martin ‘sounded out’ as Daniel Farke successor at Leeds United

It’s certainly a shocking name which has been mooted, but Russell Martin has proven his success at Southampton.

Farke will know all too well about the former Saints boss who got sacked in December, after Southampton beat the Whites in the play-off final last year, but also after working together at Norwich.

The heartbreak of last season has seemingly been wiped from their memories as they’ve ultimately replaced the Saints in the top flight next season.

Martin saw Leeds getting promoted, and after showing strong tactical signs in the top flight maybe the 49ers will consider him as an option.

Well GIVEMESPORT are reporting exactly that as the manager who has been out of the frame for four months could see himself replace his own former manager.

Leeds have ‘sounded out’ Martin to see how he feels about returning to the dugout as sources claim the Whites want to discover who they could recruit if they part company with Farke in the aftermath of their promotion.

Martin has become a ‘genuine candidate’ for the Leeds job as members of the hierarchy are seriously considering dismissing Farke.

Martin ‘tactically outwitted’ Farke but Leeds should avoid

The former Saints boss himself had a tough time in the Premier League, as despite his tactics flourishing in the Championship, it didn’t click in the top flight.

Carlos Corberan almost replaced Martin at Southampton, as he can now get himself back into action with the Leeds post.

After last season, when comparing the managers, Martin came out on top with Sky Sports commentator Andy Hinchcliffe saying he ‘tactically outwitted’ Farke on the final day after the Saints beat Leeds 2-1.

He obviously did this at Wembley not long after, but this shouldn’t be a reason to appoint a man who really struggled in the top flight, and has ultimately played his part in Southampton being relegated.

It’s not an improvement on Farke, who, despite only gaining 21 points in the Premier League, completely showed up Martin’s one win this campaign.

Leeds fans wouldn’t welcome this and it seems as though their best way forward is sticking with Farke.
