Leeds United currently have 11 players plying their trade out on loan across England and the rest of Europe.
Upon relegation from the Premier League, several members of the first team squad took advantage of loan clauses that were inserted in their contract that became active in the summer.
As the halfway point of the season approaches, and with some players now beginning a winter break having moved to a different European league, it is now time to start thinking about futures beyond this season.
One player who has just done that publicly is Max Wober, who has addressed what could happen at the end of the season in a new interview with German outlet Kicker.
Wober has completely left the door open for all possibilities next summer, stating that it is completely in the hands of the hierarchies at both Leeds, and Borussia Monchengladbach.
Permanent Wober deal is best solution
He said: “Leeds are playing really good football at the moment and it looks like I’m taking a step back again. There are sporting directors and board members involved. If Leeds say I should go back, I’ll be back. If Gladbach put down so much money that it suits Leeds, then I’m there. I’m more like a passenger.”
Wober has enjoyed a decent time of it at Gladbach but ultimately, whether he makes the permanent move is going to be down to whether they can meet Leeds’ asking price.
Wober has spoken about his future at Elland Road before and believes that if Leeds are to get promoted, it could throw his future into doubt.
However, it would be best for all parties if some sort of permanent agreement could be arranged, regardless of what happens this season, given the circumstances surrounding his exit.
An interesting summer is certainly ahead at Leeds in 2024 with so many first team players currently out on loan, whose future is very much up in the air.
