Leeds United loanee Max Wober’s importance to Borussia Monchengladbach has been highlighted after their 4-0 win over Wolfsburg.
Wober was given a grade of 2.5 (the lower the better) by Gladbach Live for his display in their emphatic victory on Friday, having only been passed fit to play late on.
Despite having only moved to Leeds in January, Wober was one of eight members of last season’s first team squad to depart Elland Road in the summer.
So far, they have all had varying degrees of success but Wober is certainly among those who have performed best for their new club, repeatedly winning praise from the German media.
He has played all but 24 minutes in the Bundesliga this season with Gladbach now really starting to find some form after a slow start to the season.
Wober importance to Gladbach hailed
In Gladbach Live’s post-match player ratings piece, they claim it became apparent very quickly in last night’s game just how important it was that he was available to play.
They wrote: “Compared to Elvedi, Wöber tried to get involved in the build-up of the game more often. The Austrian quickly demonstrated why it was so important that he reported fit at the last minute. Grade: 2.5.”

Wober had been winning praise for his performances at Gladbach during the early part of the season, even despite winning just one of their opening eight matches.
Gladbach have now picked up seven points from their last three games, with last night’s win over Wolfsburg actually their first clean sheet of the season.
The more Wober helps Gladbach continue to climb the table, the more likely they are to make try sign him from Leeds permanently, which would be the best for all parties.
