Reports from Germany this week have reported that Leeds United have informed Gladbach that they will need to pay a fee in the low, double-digit millions if they want to sign Max Wober on a permanent basis.
Wober, 25, has been solid for Gladbach in the Bundesliga. He has started all nine games for Gladbach this season, completing 90 minutes on eight occasions. He has been playing on the left side of a three.
The Austria star only played 19 times for Leeds having joined the club in January from Salzburg, forming a reunion with Jesse Marsch. The ex-Leeds boss said Wober was among the “best” he’s worked with.
So, Wober is impressing and is nailing down his spot for Euro 2024 with Austria. Which indeed, was his aim. He has a contract at Leeds until the summer of 2027. There is a chance he returns to Elland Road.
Sky Austria say Leeds are planning to keep Wober if we gain promotion back to the top tier. However, the latest report from Kicker – as per Fussball News – shares the price Leeds want from Gladbach.

Indeed, it is said that Leeds would accept the permanent exit for Wober to Gladbach – if the German side pay a low, double-digit million fee. That might be in Euros, given the report is from Germany.
Leeds paid £11m for him, though. So, realistically, Leeds are looking to get back the fee they paid to sign him in January. If we get that cash back for him, then it is good business. Leeds need to get rid of him.
Wober is a top defender. A player that did not deserve to join a side that were instantly relegated. He is good enough for the Premier League. But, his decision to leave, means he has burnt his Leeds bridges.
If Leeds can get their money back for him, then it wipes away the memory of Wober deciding to leave moments before a pre-season friendly against Monaco, when he was expected to stay. Good business.
