25-year-old may have hinted he is open to Leeds United return, but his time at Elland Road should be over

Leeds United could have some big decisions to make next summer regarding some of their returning loan players.

The Whites lost eight senior members of last season’s first team squad on loan following relegation from the Premier League in May, but several of them are likely to return at the end of the season.

If Leeds were to get promoted, it would not be a surprise if some of them were keen on giving it a second go at Elland Road, which could leave them with some tough decisions.

One of the players who falls under that category is Max Wober, who joined Borussia Monchengladbach on a season-long-loan in July, despite having only signed for Leeds seven months earlier.

He believes that Leeds will win promotion from the Championship this season and has said if that happens, he has no idea what could happen with his future.

Wober should be sold by Leeds next summer regardless

Wober was one of the players San Francisco 49ers Enterprises earmarked early on in the summer that they wanted to keep and build a team around.

It had looked as though that would be the case until Monchengladbach came in and Wober made it clear to Daniel Farke that it was an opportunity he didn’t want to pass up.

Ultimately that conversation should have signalled the end of his time at Elland Road as it showed he was not up for the fight of returning to the Premier League.

He should not just be handed the prospect of playing Premier League football again on a plate and so Leeds should sell him for somewhere close to the figure they paid Red Bull Salzburg for him.

Pascal Struijk has made the left centre-back position his own this season after a difficult campaign last year. Wober does not deserve the opportunity to comeback and try take that place back off him.
