It’s never quite a normal season at Leeds United no matter what the circumstances but this Whites star endured the brunt of it.
The transfer strategy hasn’t quite panned out for the 49ers this January as it’s been a struggle to secure Daniel Farke’s desires.
Leeds still want five signings but that now seems extremely unlikely with just four days of the window remaining.
What strategy has worked well is the development of loan players, as Joe Gelhardt’s switch to Hull has got him scoring.
Another Leeds loan is blossoming, but recently spoke on how bad it got in his first season at Elland Road.

Darko Gyabi said it was ‘chaos’ in his first season at Leeds United
Darko Gyabi is enduring his first loan spell away from Leeds since his £5 million move from Manchester City in 2022.
Now in his second season with Plymouth Argyle, the midfielder has been solid and Gyabi even grabbed an assist against Sunderland which could end up contributing to Leeds’ promotion.
In an interview with Sky Sports, the 20-year-old spoke on his first season at Leeds and how having four different managers affected his time as Jesse Marsch, Michael Skubala, Javi Gracia, and Sam Allardyce all took on the Whites post in the 2022/23 season.
“My first proper season in the men’s game and there was a lot of chaos in terms of managers,” Gyabi said.
“It was tough because on certain days I was with the first team, but when a different manager came in, they needed to focus on the older players.
“It wasn’t easy because there was a lot of change, but it helped me realise how the men’s game is and what happens in the professional world, there was a bit of chaos, but I don’t think it was anything that I didn’t learn from.”

Gyabi deserves a chance at Leeds after season at Plymouth
When he first moved away from Leeds, Gyabi had glimpses with Plymouth but this season he has proven to Farke that he can be a part of his plans next season.
Gyabi got labelled ‘outstanding’ and it goes to show he can reach another level after this season which could benefit Leeds by not having to fork out another large fee for a midfielder.
Gyabi’s numbers in the Championship have shown how he can flourish back at Elland Road and will tell you exactly why Leeds spent £5m on him.
| Gyabi’s statistics with Plymouth Argyle – 24/25 season | |
| Appearances | 27 |
| Assists | 2 |
| Chances created | 22 |
| Touches in opposition box | 27 |
| Tackles won | 67.3% |
His first season with Leeds didn’t go his way, but Gyabi’s numbers and praise in the footballing world speaks for itself.
