Ian Foster has issued his verdict on the performance of Darko Gyabi as the Leeds United loanee played a key role in Plymouth Argyle’s 2-0 win over Middlesbrough on Saturday.
It has been a promising start to life at Home Park for Darko Gyabi. Of course, Plymouth playing Leeds three times since his move has not helped him build momentum. But he has rarely missed a minute of the games he has been available for.
Gyabi has been bright on a few occasions now. But perhaps his best display yet came on Saturday as Plymouth picked up a big three points at the Riverside Stadium, with Gyabi playing in a more advanced role.

The 20-year-old was involved in the first goal with his shot being parried into the path of Matthew Sorinola. And he set up the second for Ryan Hardie with his first assist of the season.
According to Whoscored, Gyabi completed four key passes during the game – more than any other player on the pitch.
And speaking to Plymouth Live after the game, Ian Foster suggested that he was amazed by the Leeds loanee’s display in the victory.
“He has done it in a game a couple of times. I know what he’s capable of from the 10 position. He’s a fantastic technician. he has got loads of energy,” he said.
“We have to manage the players in these instances. Ashley Phillips is an 18-year-old kid who has come in and played every game for me from the start. Alfie Devine has come in and been excellent for us.
“These players just need a break at times. Darko has obviously missed the Leeds game so he was a little bit fresher than most. I thought his performance from that position today was outstanding.”

Of course, Gyabi’s task at Elland Road is a tough one. Unlike last season, Leeds are blessed to have so much depth in the middle of the park right now.
Ilia Gruev and Glen Kamara have been superb of late. Meanwhile, Ethan Ampadu and Archie Gray are also available to Daniel Farke. And on current evidence, the Leeds boss could pick any combination of the four players right now.
Hopefully none of the quartet are going anywhere anytime soon. And with that, it is going to be difficult for Gyabi to force his way into the plans – particularly if we do manage to get across the line in the promotion race.
But the youngster is certainly doing all he can to make an impact while out on loan. That is definitely going to do his chances of sending a message to Farke no harm at all.
