Leeds teenager’s energy praised after win out on loan this weekend

Darko Gyabi has been praised after the Leeds United loanee’s performance for Plymouth Argyle in their win over Swansea City on Saturday.

Darko Gyabi is unbeaten since making the move from Elland Road to Home Park in the January transfer window. And the Pilgrims picked up a big win in their push to stay in the Championship this season.

Ian Foster’s side beat Swansea 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium, with Gyabi starting alongside Adam Forshaw in the middle of the park.

No player on either side won more challenges than Gyabi, according to Whoscored. The 19-year-old won four tackles, while Adam Forshaw was the only Plymouth player to make more interceptions than the teenager.

And Plymouth Live have praised the Leeds youngster in their player ratings piece following the win.

“The 19-year-old loan signing brought good energy and ball-winning ability to the centre of Argyle’s midfield. He will have to miss the FA Cup fourth round replay against Leeds United at Home Park on Tuesday because it it against his parent club Leeds United which is a shame because he has shown plenty of promise in his three Championship games so far,” they wrote.

Midfielder off to a bright start out on loan

As the piece notes, Gyabi is now unavailable for Tuesday’s FA Cup replay between Leeds and Plymouth. And the two sides meet in the Championship later this month. So that will not do the starlet many favours.

But it is fantastic to see him impressing in the second tier as part of a Plymouth side which has suddenly become full of youth and excitement. The likes of Ashley Phillips and Alfie Devine have also arrived on loan in the last few weeks.

It is going to be extremely difficult for Gyabi to force his way into Daniel Farke’s plans in the future. Leeds have a lot of depth in the middle of the park, with Ethan Ampadu and Archie Gray not even playing there right now.

But he seems to be doing all he can to send a message to his parent club.
