Leeds United fans have the utmost respect for former captain Liam Cooper, as he’s come out with a brilliant message.

Daniel Farke has plenty of leaders around his squad, but it won’t be easy to replicate what Cooper did at Elland Road.

Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu have made their impact as a key part of the Leeds dressing room, but Cooper has already captained new club CSKA Sofia, showing how quickly his leadership rubs off.

Marcelo Bielsa would be full of praise for the former defender as there is no doubt the Argentine’s management and Cooper’s captaincy made for a great pairing.

The defender has now shown his admiration for an EFL announcement that Leeds fans will love.

Now 33, Cooper has always been an ‘exceptional’ professional and will be loving the Whites’ form in the Championship.

Someone who has played a key role in Farke’s side this season is Dan James, who was credited with the EFL Championship player of the month after his performances in February.

Adding to this, Farke won the manager of the month in an excellent time for Leeds, who are firingon all cylinders.

Cooper took to Instagram to praise James, who gained three goals and five assists for Farke.

James captioned his post for the announcement with: “(Fire emoji) Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month.”

Cooper replied saying: “Love to see it DEEJ @daniel_james97.”

Leeds need to tie James down to a new deal as soon as possible

It’s an absolute must that Leeds award James with a new contract, as the 49ers should have this as a priority.

James is firmly a part of Leeds’ future, and with his time ending in 2026, this will surely be extended this summer as clubs will begin to snoop.

The Championship seems like the perfect level for James, as the Welshman will have to prove his worth in the Premier League.

It’s an obstacle he will have to overcome, but one thing is for certain a contract is in the reckoning for James.
