Leeds United have Daniel Farke at the helm for his third season in the Elland Road dugout, but they won’t have the German forever.

The Leeds United manager penned a four-year deal when he arrived in 2023, meaning he will have just one year left at Leeds next summer.

The 49ers may well have a decision to make at some stage, and the Leeds squad have grown close to Daniel Farke over the last couple of years and it’s fair to say that many would be sad to see him go.

The 49ers have considered Farke’s future at Leeds before, despite the fact the Whites collected 100 points. The 49ers are said to have looked at Farke alternatives but Paraag Marathe gave his full support in the aftermath of promotion.

Leeds United fans want Pablo Hernandez to eventually replace Daniel Farke

Farke’s job security may well be sturdy right now, but it’s still a good idea for a club to have contingency plans for the playing squad and the coaching staff, which is why Leeds fans have had another idea recently.

Leeds hero Pablo Hernandez is caretaker manager of Castellon. It’s been a great start to life in interim charge for ‘EL Mago’, with Hernandez having won his first two Castellon games in charge.

Since then, Hernandez won his third in a row with Castellon yesterday. Leeds fans have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to react to the iconic Leeds figure’s latest feat.

Another added: “I’m not sure there will ever be a time where I don’t still think he could “do a job” for us. Dragged us to promotion after Covid.”

Others were quick to credit Marcelo Bielsa, as seen above, but also with this comment: “Learned from the best. #lufc”

Another Leeds fan stated: “Would love him back at Leeds …”

Leeds fans want Hernandez at some stage, be that immediately or at some stage in the next few years. However, he is very early on into his managerial career, with ‘El Mago’ only retired as a player for two years.

Pablo Hernandez names his favourite moment for Leeds

In recent weeks, Hernandez commented on leaving Leeds and Bielsa but he also detailed some other aspects of his career in West Yorkshire during the same interview.

That’s because Hernandez spoke about his favourite moment playing for Leeds. He said: “Garry Monk (a former teammate at Swansea) called me. I understood why they call it the sleeping giant: a huge club and a ferocious fan base.

“We connected from day one. I had two of my best years with Marcelo Bielsa: he was extremely demanding, especially mentally, but he improves you. We achieved promotion to the Premier League in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic.

“My goal against Swansea in the 89th minute was key, and it still gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. We celebrated promotion by looking at the fans from behind the windows due to the restrictions.”
