Whilst a new goalkeeper may be rapidly becoming Danie Farke’s no.1 priority for the summer transfer window, new attacking signings are also needed at Leeds United.
The mood among Leeds United fans is a deject one. Last time out, they had to watch on as their side slumped to a thoroughly disappointing 2-2 draw against Swansea City at Elland Road, and all because of one player.
Illan Meslier had a nightmare against Swansea City and once again there’s a vitriol to get the Frenchman ousted from the XI, and finally, it looks like Daniel Farke may heed those calls and play Karl Darlow instead.
Come the summer, promotion or not, Leeds United may need a new goalkeeper. But Farke will need attacking signings too, promotion or not, with his frontline simply lacking any real depth right now.
There’s also the likes of Manor Solomon who Leeds United want to sign permanently but has other interest, and Joel Piroe who may face an uncertain future amid rumours that he could end up back at PSV.

David Prutton gives honest verdict on Leeds United’s interest in Cameron Archer
One attacking name linked with Leeds United is Southampton’s Cameron Archer. Leeds United tried to sign Archer on deadline day but couldn’t get a deal over the line. Since, it’s been revealed to Leeds United News that Farke wants to sign Archer in the summer transfer window, with Southampton looking nailed on for relegation from the Premier League.
But speaking to Football League Word, Prutton has questioned whether Archer is really that good of a potential signing for Leeds United. The former Whites midfielder explained: “It could be a sliding doors moment obviously if Leeds manage to get themselves up and then he jumps from one ship to another.
“Whether he would have the requisite goal-scoring ability to make sure their stay in the Premier League would be a longer one than last time, I think the jury is out a little bit on that. Prolific season a few seasons ago in the Championship… for the right price, under the right manager you never know how a player could blossom, Cameron could be one of those.”
Prutton later added: “Obviously, they’ll take into account the whole sphere of what the squad is, because it’s not individuals, it’s a collective that they’re not good enough. Whether that then becomes a potent choice for Leeds going forward in the Premier League, as I said hypothetically, remains to be seen.”

Why Leeds United may already be out of the race to sign Cameron Archer
Prutton certainly has a good point: Archer has failed to impress in the Premier League this season with two goals in 26 Premier League games, and Archer has admitted that he’s been in poor form. But it might just need a change in manager to get him going again.
His Championship record is good but Leeds are still on course to earn promotion, by hook or by crook, so they need Premier League quality, not Championship quality in the summer.
But it looks like Leeds United may struggle to sign Archer in the summer anyway, along with his St Mary’s teammate Aaron Ramsdale who’s also a target, with Southampton wanting £100million for Tyler Dibling.
It surely sets the tone for their upcoming summer transfer window and tells everyone that they’re not about to oversee a fire sale following relegation, and that instead they might put some more ridiculous transfer fees on their players’ heads.
For Leeds, it might be best to move on from Archer entirely.
