Leeds United will target Emi Buendia and one other Premier League star during the summer transfer window

Aston Villa star Emi Buendia was largely the talk of Leeds United’s January transfer window. But he didn’t sign, instead joining Bayer Leverkusen on loan.

Leeds United appeared to put all their January transfer efforts into a handful of, what would’ve been, really good signings.

Daniel Farke targeted a reunion with his former Norwich City talisman Emi Buendia who’s now at Aston Villa, where he was struggling for game time under Unai Emery in the first half of this season.

Leeds were linked with Buendia throughout the month. But in what came as a bitter blow to the Whites, Buendia moved to Bayern Leverkusen on loan for the remainder of the season.

Since, it’s been revealed by Leeds United News that Buendia will remain a transfer target for Farke ahead of the summer. But it’s not only Buendia that Farke wants to bring to Elland Road in the summer.

Another player who Leeds were working hard to sign in January was Cameron Archer at Southampton. The link went right down to the deadline but Archer remains at St Mary’s.

Speaking to Leeds United News once again, transfer expert Graeme Bailey has revealed that Archer will ‘remain’ a player of interest for Leeds United, saying: “He’s a player of interest, he will remain that.

“They will assess things but they don’t need to make that decision now. Yeah, they like him. See what comes up but I don’t think they will have made that decision yet.”

How Cameron Archer felt about his failed move to Leeds United

Going into deadline day, it was reported that Archer was open to joining Leeds United. And Bailey later confirmed that to us.

Speaking to Leeds United News, Bailey said Archer wanted the move to Leeds on deadline day. “Cameron Archer wanted the move, there is no doubting that,” Bailey started.

“He wants to be in the Premier League next season and in the long-term. No doubt he feels he would be better served at Leeds than Southampton.”

Southampton remain rock-bottom of the Premier League. After beating Leeds United in the Championship play-off final last season, the Saints are on track to be one of the Premier League’s worst-ever team.

Should Leeds and Southampton trade places during the summer then Archer could do the same. For Farke, signing Archer and Buendia during the summer transfer window would be a huge double coup.
