Daniel Farke has revealed he was left in disbelief when one of his Leeds United stars wasn’t named in the Championship Team of the Season.
The EFL’s Championship Team of the Season was released last week and it didn’t go down well amongst Leeds United fans.
Though Leeds were top of the Championship table, had secured Premier League promotion and were closing in on the title, only three members of the squad made it into the side.
Dan James, Ao Tanaka and Jayden Bogle were the stars to rightfully get the plaudits but Leeds fans were left dismayed that others got left out.
Leeds went on to clinch the title in remarkable fashion on the final day, with Manor Solomon’s incredible last-minute winner ensuring Leeds pipped Burnley to the trophy.
Despite having so much to celebrate, Daniel Farke found time to express his own annoyance around the Team of the Season at full-time, calling it a ‘joke’ that Solomon wasn’t picked.

Daniel Farke wanted Manor Solomon in Team of the Season
Speaking in his press conference after the game, Farke shared his thoughts on Solomon’s excellent season.
He said: “When you remember Manor’s last season, everyone doubted him after his injuries.
“He has shown consistency. A joke he was not in the Team of the Season. Outstanding this season.
“Had some injuries this year, but he always came back.”
Should Manor Solomon have been in the Team of the Season?
Solomon isn’t the only player left feeling aggrieved that he didn’t receive the accolade.
Joel Piroe finished the season as the Championship’s top goal scorer, with 19 goals earning him the Golden Boot.
Yet, Norwich City’s Josh Sargent, who scored just 15, was selected as the striker instead.
In addition, the fantastic Junior Firpo missed out to Sheffield United’s Harrison Burrows, despite being involved in 14 goals.
Firpo showed his own annoyance with the EFL’s decision by cheekily tweeting that he was the ‘second best left-back in the league.’
However, as good as Solomon has been, he probably didn’t deserve the spot on the left flank over Norwich’s Borja Sainz, who finished the campaign with 18 goals and four assists.
Solomon has been excellent in the run-in, but that is just a six-game burst while his earlier form in the campaign was streaky.
