The EFL awards took place in London on Sunday night with Daniel Farke and Dan James both nominated for the Championship Manager and Player of the Year awards.
Both James and Farke were overlooked by those who pick the awards, with Burnley manager Scott Parker winning Championship Manager of the Year. James was one of three nominations for the Player award.
But, to the bemusement of Championship fans, both Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford and James were overlooked for Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer – a player Leeds bid £13m to sign at the start of 24-25.
Three Leeds players were picked in the Championship Team of the Season, with two Norwich City stars surprisingly included despite the Canaries’ poor season, in the form of both Borja Sainz and Josh Sargent.

Three Leeds stars names in Championship Team of the Season
The three Leeds players included in the Team of the Season were Leeds’ right flank, with James obviously included having been nominated for the Player of the Season award. Jayden Bogle was also included.
Ao Tanaka was also included in the Team of the Season after a brilliant campaign despite it being his first in English football, making his £3.4m transfer fee from Fortuna Dusseldorf seem like an absolute bargain.
Burnley trio Trafford, CJ Egan-Riley and Maxime Esteve were all included, along with Sheffield United duo Hamer and Harrison Burrows also got picked. Young Player of the Year Jobe Bellingham, as well.
Ross McCormack stunned at Junior Firpo omission from TOTS
Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu, Manor Solomon and Joel Piroe all had claims to be in the Team of the Season, especially with Piroe sitting top of the goal rankings. Junior Firpo too, after a super season at left-back.
There is no doubting that Burrows has been one of Sheffield United’s best players, but many would argue that Firpo has gone one better this season. Yet, Burrows was picked ahead of the Dominican Republic ace.
It left Ross McCormack completely bemused as the Elland Road icon watched on, taking to his Instagram story and saying: “Who votes for this team of the year? Where is Junior Firpo?”

Firpo is targeting a huge 15 goals and assists this season, and with two games left he has 14 to his name after scoring against Stoke last Monday. Perhaps, he will add to his tally against Bristol City tonight.
