Leeds United have certainly splashed the cash this summer, with the club’s summer spending totalling nearly £100m.

Earlier this week, Leeds United confirmed the signing of Noah Okafor from AC Milan. The Swiss international joins in an £18m deal and takes the 49ers‘ summer spending to the £100m mark.

Going into this summer, it was reported that Leeds United have a £150m transfer budget for this window, and so Daniel Farke has some room left for improvements.

And after Saturday’s game against Arsenal, he might certainly need some. Arsenal thumped Leeds United 5-0 as Viktor Gyokeres got underway in the Premier League.

Jamie Redknapp says Leeds United’s Anton Stach is a ‘good footballer’

On the night, there were several poor individual performances. In particular, Leeds United fans were unimpressed with Lucas Perri, whilst returning Ilia Gruev failed to impress following the injury to Ethan Ampadu, which will keep him out for several weeks.

The other new signings who started the game were Gabriel Gudmundsson and then Anton Stach in midfield, whilst Okafor came off the bench to make his debut. Earlier in pre-season, Leeds United fans were very impressed with Stach’s performances, but many were critical of his performance against Arsenal.

Speaking early on in the game against Arsenal though, commentator Jamie Redknapp gave a positive verdict of the German. Redknapp simply said: “Takes corners, good set-pieces, good footballer.”

Anton Stach’s stats for Leeds United vs Arsenal

Whilst Stach has shown very positive glimpses in a Leeds United shirt, there were many fans on social media voicing concern about his performance against Arsenal. Many said that Stach simply looked tired early on and that he looked somewhat clumsy in what was a midfield full of quality with the likes of Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.

But whilst many had criticisms of Stach, he did top some statistics. The German was the player with the most ground duels won for Leeds United with five out of seven and he also made the joint most key passes of any player on the pitch.

For Stach, adapting to the Premier League may take a bit of time, but Farke will have full hope that he will be able to make the switch from the Bundesliga to the Premier League and he will hope that he will be able to do it sooner rather than later, with Leeds needing to make every point count.

Leeds United next play Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
