Everton have reportedly made a £40 million offer for Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto.
That is according to Italian outlet Sport Mediaset, who claim that an agreement has been reached between the two clubs and Gnonto will make the switch before tonight’s deadline.
According to Sky Sports, Everton re-entered talks with Leeds earlier today over a move for Gnonto despite a deal having looked dead and buried this time last week.
This latest report is a complete contrast to comments from Daniel Farke earlier this afternoon, with the Leeds boss suggesting he is ‘pretty confident’ of keeping Gnonto.
£40 million is, of course, a monstrous offer and would be difficult to turn down for Leeds, but San Francisco 49ers Enterprises have been clear throughout the summer he is not for sale.

The Italian press have covered a potential move for Gnonto to Everton extensively throughout the summer and have often made claims such as this one.
Given the financial issues Everton have had this summer, it is difficult to see them splashing £40 million on a single player.
As per Sky Sports last month, Everton’s most recent bid for Gnonto totalled around £25 million, and so that would be an enormous jump.
There are now less than nine hours to go until the window slams shut and so if these latest reports are indeed correct, other sections of the media will surely catch wind soon.
It will undoubtedly be a nervy end to the window for Leeds supporters regardless of Farke’s comments earlier and hopefully, this latest claim is wide of the mark.
