Leeds United have a strong future ahead of them after securing promotion back to the Premier League.

The tools are there for Leeds to push on in the top flight, but ending the curse of newly-promoted clubs being relegated will be difficult.

In an ambitious ploy, the 49ers want Leeds consistent in the Premier League, but Daniel Farke, if he’s the manager, will have to overcome this obstacle.

It’s a big ask but with the ownership seemingly ambitious, all the signs are pointing to making it happen.

However, another plan from the 49ers has now come under concern, with Simon Jordan raising an alarming point.

Simon Jordan concerned over Leeds United Elland Road expansion

With it becoming clear that Elland Road will be expanded, this will be another plan the 49ers have to assess.

The plans will see the famous Fortress Elland increase from its current capacity of 37,645 to a staggering 53,000.

This is all you need to know that the owners mean business as Leeds could get naming rights for the expansion.

Of course, these obstacles will come long-term, but what Jordan has said, speaking to talkSPORT, brings to the surface a new discussion which diehard fans will want to avoid.

“It may fall foul to the same issues that other clubs have, that you’ve got a club that’s now back in the Premier League, that will be part of the tourism mentality,” Jordan said.

“Having been an owner that went round most the stadiums, all the significant ones in terms of being in the Premier League and the Championship, the one that always stood out for me, as the most intimidating atmosphere-wise was Leeds.

“It’s certainly a big, big football club and the nature of that stadium expanding with a fanbase that can probably fill it quite easily and probably has waiting lists to fill it.”

Elland Road atmosphere will give Leeds best chance of staying up

The construction work for the expansion won’t take place for a while, but this factor still needs to be considered for the future.

Elland Road’s home atmosphere is what makes it so special, and to add a hinderence to that won’t bode well with what happens on the pitch.

Leeds’ plans for the stadium aren’t in full effect yet, as Leeds need to raise £100m for the expansion.

This will likely be done, but the atmosphere needs to remain intact, as if their last season in the Premier League was anything to go by, this is what spurred the club to fight on the final day.

The first season back in the big time will show exactly why Paraag Marathe needs to ensure the atmosphere doesn’t come into the firing line with the expansion, and he out of all people will know this has to be considered.
