Plymouth announce official plans in the event Leeds United are crowned Championship winners

With promotion in the bag, Saturday will determine whether Leeds United are crowned Championship winners or have to settle for second place behind Burnley.

Daniel Farke takes his side to Plymouth Argyle in the final game of the season, as Leeds remain in the hunt for the Championship trophy. They simply have to match Burnley’s result, who face Millwall at home.

With both sides on 97 points but Leeds’ goal difference far superior, a win will get the job done whatever Burnley do against Alex Neil’s men. But even if Leeds fail to win, or even lose, they could still win the title.

Obviously, Leeds will want to go out with a bang and reach 100 points for the first time in the history of the club. Plymouth meanwhile, are pretty-much relegated even if they are only three points from safety.

Plymouth confirm plans in the event of Leeds winning title

With Leeds away from home, it is hardly as if The Whites can go and plan a big party on the pitch with the Championship trophy – as they did at Elland Road following Monday night’s superb win over Bristol City.

However, with Argyle relegated given they would require a 14-goal swing and every other team ahead of them to lose, Plymouth have confirmed plans on their website to fans in the event that Leeds do go up.

They said: “With much riding on the game for our visitors, we are expecting Leeds United supporters to travel to the South West in numbers and surrounding areas to be very busy in the build-up to the match.

“If Leeds are crowned champions, a small stage will be erected in front of the away end with the Leeds players able to celebrate with their travelling fans as per league traditions. This will take place once the Argyle players have departed the field of play.”

Leeds United’s injury status ahead of Plymouth Argyle clash

Currently, Leeds have four injury concerns. The first of which is Isaac Schmidt, who was left out of the squad on Monday for the 4-0 win. Farke confirmed after the game that Schmidt has a knee issue.

It is unclear if Schmidt will be fit to play against Plymouth, while Dan James declared he has a “slim chance” of playing against Plymouth due to the hamstring injury sustained in the win at Middlesbrough.

Elsewhere, Pascal Struijk is out for the season and Joe Rothwell has been unable to play since the calf injury picked up a day before the Luton draw. He was supposed to be back for the Bristol City match.
