Leeds United and Burnley have both been brilliant outfits in the Championship this season, but the Whites surprisingly beat Parker’s side in a defensive statistic.

It’s been some promotion race in the Championship this season, but is that even a surprise anymore?

The run-in has only started as Leeds face Sheffield United on Monday night in a season-defining game at Bramall Lane.

Chris Wilder admitted to watching Leeds’ 2-1 win vs Sunderland as Sheffield United were ‘impressed’ with Leeds.

The Blades might be even more impressed with Daniel Farke’s side as they have done something better than a Burnley side who have only conceded nine goals in the League this season.

Incredible Leeds United statistic puts Burnley to shame

Burnley’s defensive actions have been nothing but brilliant, so this isn’t downplaying how strong Parker has made his side.

But everyone seems to be talking about the Clarets’ brilliant defence, and they don’t even top a key defensive statistic. That crown falls to Farke’s Leeds.

XG has become a dominant stat in the world of football, as the lowest XG in the Championship makes Leeds look like the side who have only conceded nine.

Lowest XG conceded in the Championship this season
1.Leeds United – 20.7
2.Burnley – 26.4
3.Sheffield United – 32.1
4.Sunderland – 33.9
5.Millwall – 34.6

Parker himself called Burnley’s defence ‘remarkable’ but Leeds deserve their plaudits.

Leeds have best chance of Premier League success out of the top three

It would be a crime if the current top three didn’t find themselves in the Premier League next season, as all three clubs have put up a claim for their place.

However, Leeds look another level compared to Burnley and Sheffield United, and if promoted, Leeds are probably more likely to keep their place in the top flight.

This is mostly down to history, Burnley and the Blades have both struggled to maintain their place whereas Leeds can thrive in the Premier League environment, especially with the 49ers’ ownership.

The 49ers want Premier League targets at Leeds, and the ambition speaks volumes.

It’s up for debate, but Leeds look to be in the strongest position to compete with the big boys.
