Scott Parker gave his verdict on Leeds United after his Burnley side and Daniel Farke’s men played out a non-eventful, nervous 0-0 draw at Turf Moor in incredibly wet conditions.

Leeds went into the game with the knowledge that a win would take them four clear of second-placed Sheffield United after their 3-0 defeat to Joe Gelhardt’s Hull. They could have gone six clear of Burnley.

But instead, Leeds could only manage a 0-0 draw against Parker’s men. It comes as little surprise given Burnley’s incredible defensive record, having only conceded nine goals in 29 Championship matches.

It does mean that Leeds remain top of the table, but only two ahead of Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United. Now three ahead of Burnley, but five in front of Sunderland after their draw against Plymouth Argyle.

Scott Parker delivers verdict on Leeds United after draw

Parker’s tactics help nullify Leeds, while Farke named Ilia Gruev in his starting line-up for the first time since his injury in October. A defensive switch, as the Bulgarian came in and replaced Joe Rothwell.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Burnley manager Parker summed up the game and gave his verdict on Leeds with quotes published by both Leeds Live and Radio Leeds commentator Adam Pope.

Leeds Live reported: “It was always going to pan out that way. Leeds are a top side. I’m happy with that point. Had our moments, real good bits. They proved to be dominant while not harming us too much.”

While Pope said on X: “It smelled like 0-0 & that’s what it was. But what we’ve done defensively this year is remarkable. We’ve picked up 4 points & not conceded to arguably the best team in the league.”

How Leeds compare this season, to this point last season

So, it sees Leeds reach the 60-point mark before any other side with another point at Turf Moor. Daniel Farke’s wait for a league win against Burnley continues, a run of five games without securing three points.

Last season, Leeds were in fourth place and three points worse off than they were right now. Indeed, the Whites found themselves a massive nine points behind leaders Leicester City and two behind Ipswich.

Leeds had also played a game extra on January 27 compared to Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton. Those three went up while Leeds were consigned to the Championship while this term, Leeds remain top.
