David Prutton has shared his prediction ahead of Leeds United’s clash with Ipswich Town today.
Leeds head into the match sat 10 points adrift of the Tractor Boys, who occupy the second automatic promotion spot, and Sky Sports pundit Jobi McAnuff believes the pressure is on the Whites.
Daniel Farke’s side have not won either of their last two matches in the Championship, losing at Sunderland, before then being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Coventry City.
While the likes of Farke, Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu have all played down the importance of the gap at this stage, Leeds will know they a return to winning ways is imperative.
But writing in his latest EFL predictions column for Sky Sports, Prutton does not believe Leeds will come out victorious, tipping the two sides to play out an entertaining 2-2 draw.
Leeds vs Ipswich to be high scoring affair
Prutton wrote: “This is a very big game. Is it must-win for Leeds even now? Quite possibly. The gap is 10 points, and with Ipswich up against Leicester on Boxing Day, that could change very quickly.
“Ipswich will have been frustrated not to find a way to beat Norwich last time out. The hoodoo against their fierce rivals continued even in the position of strength they are currently in.
“They will play to win this, but Kieran McKenna will be very happy with a draw, which I think he’ll get. Prediction: Leeds 2-2 Ipswich.“
Ipswich boss McKenna has already highlighted the strength of Leeds’ attack in his pre-match press conference, and so it will be interesting to see how they approach it.
Leeds defeated them 4-3 in the return fixture back in August, showing just what this attack can do when side’s are happy to open up and play, due to the strength on the counter-attack.
But Ipswich themselves are very good in the final third and have scored the most goals of any side in the Championship this season, which will be cause for concern, according to striker George Hirst.
