How Leeds United’s six loanees are performing in 2025-26, including Largie Ramazani and Mateo Joseph

Leeds United have six players out on loan in the 2025-26 season and here is how they are performing at their clubs.

It was a busy summer transfer window for Leeds United, even if it ended in disappointment with no extra creative players recruited on deadline day.

Yet, Daniel Farke added 10 new stars to his squad to get Leeds ready for Premier League competition and moved a lot of players on who he didn’t fancy.

Patrick Bamford, Josuha Guilavogui, Darko Gyabi and Sam Chambers left permanently, though Illan Meslier is still at Elland Road despite being stripped of the No.1 shirt.

Six players not in the manager’s immediate plans were also sent out on loan for the season, even if fans weren’t happy with every one of them.

Here is how the loanees are performing throughout the 2025-26 season.

Largie Ramazani – Valencia

Leeds spent £10m to sign Largie Ramazani from Almeria and he dazzled supporters with his rapid pace and exciting dribbling.

Yet, the one person who wasn’t impressed was the one whose opinion matters the most, the manager. Farke criticised Ramazani’s work rate several times last season and rarely gave him a chance.

As a result, Ramazani has been loaned out to Valencia for the season, a move that has angered fans, especially since a replacement wasn’t signed.

The rage was compounded further when Ramazani grabbed an assist on his debut, with just three minutes on the field. The winger is now sidelined with an injury.

Mateo Joseph was given far more chances to impress than Ramazani last season but did very little with his time on the field. Even so, Farke wanted to keep him in the summer after Leeds turned down a £10m approach from Real Betis in January, but the striker began to agitate for a move.

Betis looked to be his most likely destination, but in the end, he ended up at another La Liga side in Mallorca.

Joseph is yet to score in three appearances but did hit the bar against Barcelona.

Joe Gelhardt – Hull City

Joe Gelhardt’s potential was enough for Leeds to spend £1m to sign him from Wigan when he was still a teenager in 2020 but, despite flashes, he has never been able to realise it in white.

After a successful stint at Hull City towards the end of last season, Gelhardt was desperate to return for the new campaign and got his wish on loan.

Gelhardt enjoyed a great start to the season, with two goals in his first four Championship outings and has since taken his tally up to six after hitting a rich vein of form.

Isaac Schmidt – Werder Bremen

Another 2024 summer signing who rarely got an opportunity under Farke is right-back Isaac Schmidt, though it’s understandable that he couldn’t get in the side ahead of Jayden Bogle or Junior Firpo.

He landed on his feet, though, heading to the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen and scoring a goal on his debut to help his side come from 3-1 down to draw with Bayer Leverkusen, ultimately leading to Erik ten Hag’s sacking.

Max Wober has gone to Germany on loan for the second time since signing for Leeds this summer, following Schmidt to Werder Bremen.

However, after an injury-ravaged campaign reduced him to just nine appearances last season, Wober has once again suffered a serious injury and is out of action for some time.

Young midfielder Charlie Crew enjoyed a stint at Doncaster Rovers last term and has returned to South Yorkshire for the whole of the new season.

The teenager was a regular starter to begin the campaign but has now found himself on the bench. Yet, Crew still made his senior Wales debut in the September international break.
