Glen Kamara has delivered his verdict on Leeds United’s promotion chances after narrowly missing out in his one and only season at Elland Road.
Kamara made 42 appearances for Leeds during the 2023/24 campaign as Daniel Farke‘s side finished one place outside of the top two, before going onto lose in the play-off final to Southampton.
Leeds were forced into selling a number of their key players in the wake of missing out on a place in the Premier League, with Kamara being one of them.
Over £100 million was raised through the departures of Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter, but Leeds were still happy to accept around £8 million for Kamara.
Kamara made the move to Ligue 1 side Rennes and despite some good performances at Leeds, Ao Tanaka has undoubtedly been an upgrade at just £3 million.

Kamara predicts whether Leeds will win promotion
Leeds could not have come much closer to promotion last season but in comparison to this time 12 months ago, Farke’s side are in a better position.
The electric start to the season from both Leicester City and Ipswich Town left Leeds with a mountain to climb in the promotion race, but this time around are just two points adrift of second and first.
Including Kamara, Leeds replaced those who left well in the summer, with Largie Ramazani, Tanaka and Jayden Bogle all proving to be good signings.
Some were worried about how Leeds would bounce back from the disappointment of missing out and losing so many key players.
And even despite that, Kamara has told an interview with Give Me Sport that he expects Leeds to go one better and win promotion this season.
He said: “Some players have moved on, including me, but I think Leeds will have a good chance of going back up to the Premier League. They have great players. I think they’ll be good [for promotion] this season.”
How has Kamara fared since leaving Leeds?
As mentioned, Kamara has had an up and down time since joining Rennes in the summer.
Just before the international break, Kamara was handed a 2/10 rating by the French media for his performance in a dreadful 4-0 defeat at Auxerre.
Kamara was also on the losing side when he came up against former Leeds teammate Charlie Cresswell, whose Toulouse side defeated Rennes 2-0.
There have been some positive performances in there, though, including on the opening day of the season. He has zero goals and one assist in 10 league appearances so far.
