Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has criticised referee John Brooks after his side rescued a valuable away point against Brentford.

Daniel Farke had mixed feelings after Leeds’ visit to West London, as the Whites were forced to come from behind to rescue a point.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin was the hero for Leeds as he scored his fourth consecutive goal to win another point from a losing position.

However, Farke was not happy with the refereeing performance in Leeds’ battling draw, as the German questioned the consistency of his decisions after the game.

Speaking to Sky Sports immediately after the game, Farke questioned Brooks’ performance as his side were forced to settle for a point.

Brooks caused panic among the Leeds fans as he penalised Gabriel Gudmundsson for a foul in the box in the first half. Thankfully for Leeds, the penalty was eventually ruled out for an offside in the build-up.

According to Farke, the referee lacked consistency, as he vented his frustration. Farke said: “It’s definitely a valuable point, we take this point without any doubt.

“It’s also important to stay unbeaten after two unbeaten games already at home. It’s important to be on a good run; we want to take this performance to the next game, but you always have to be aware.

“If I’m honest, I’m always a friend of the referees, but today I was also not happy with the consistency in refereeing in many situations.

“I think life was difficult for us, and the lads showed a great response. For that, a valuable point going forward.”

Offside call saved John Brooks from controversial Gabriel Gudmundsson decision

Farke is right to feel a sense of frustration with the match officials after his side came so close to being punished for a marginal decision.

Brooks initially blew for a foul as Gudmundsson chased Dango Outtara back towards the Leeds goal, judging that the Leeds defender had pulled the Burkina Faso international to the ground, with replays suggesting that the contact was minimal.

However, when Calvert-Lewin was pulled back in similar circumstances in the second half, no foul was given, and a VAR check did not overturn this call.

The offside call against Outtara means it is impossible to know whether the live call of a foul would have been overturned. However, Farke is within his rights to call out the inconsistency in his post-match interview.
