Emiliano Buendia saga takes its biggest turn yet as Leeds United in real trouble

Emi Buendia has appeared as the most likely suitor for Leeds United signing someone this January, but that may now look unlikely.

Buendia has interested Leeds since the summer as Daniel Farke has the hope of reuniting with the Argentine playmaker.

The Aston Villa midfielder’s future has been uncertain at Villa Park this January as Farke wants to sign a no.10 at Leeds.

Unai Emery said Buendia could leave Villa as the Whites were handed a boost in signing the 28-year-old.

However, Farke’s side have now been dealt a huge blow as their main January target could favour a move elsewhere.

Leeds United target Emi Buendia has serious European interest

Alan Nixon saw Buendia to Leeds as ‘unlikely’ and that would’ve come as a concerning sign for Leeds fans.

Now, it looks as though concern, might become reality as Leeds now face a real roadblock in their pursuit of Buendia.

According to Journalist, Florian Plettenberg, Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen are exploring a loan deal for Buendia.

The 28-year-old has got Leverkusen considering a loan deal with an option to buy which will no doubt perk the Argentine’s interest.

Villa are demanding an obligation option which may not concern Alonso but Leeds could still be in the race as Plettenberg suggested ‘another club’ is interested.

The Bundesliga side’s interest in Buendia seems plausible as he could replace Leverkusen’s Martin Terrier who will miss the rest of the season with an Achilles injury.

Leverkusen may have handed the final blow to Buendia signing for Leeds

This interest from Alonso’s side doesn’t bode well for Leeds in the slightest.

Leverkusen is certainly an interesting prospect, and all Buendia will have to do is take one look at the positioning of the German side in the Champions League, with Leverkusen sitting 8th.

Adding onto this, Leverkusen have serious quality in their side which Buendia may favour over Leeds’ current flock of players.

Farke may want the ‘extra spark’ in Buendia, but Leverkusen exploring a deal may have finally ended the saga as a whole.
