Leeds United hero Dominic Matteo was full of praise for one player after the Whites beat Oxford United on Friday night.

The nerves have really settled in the last week or so with Leeds United now five points clear of Sheffield United in 3rd place of the Championship table, having won their last three games now.

Daniel Farke watched on as Leeds United beat Oxford United 1-0 on Friday night with Manor Solomon scoring the only goal of the game, impressing in the process along with the likes of Joe Rodon.

Jermaine Beckford hailed Rodon and Ethan Ampadu‘s performance in the game at the Kassam Stadium with the Welsh internationals not letting Gary Rowett’s side ever really have a sniff at the Leeds United goal.

And the attacking performance was strong, if a bit timid at times with the scoreline perhaps not showing just how dominant Leeds United were throughout the 90 minutes.

Dominic Matteo lauds ‘improved’ Jayden Bogle after Oxford United 0-1 Leeds United

One player who also received praise on Friday night was Jayden Bogle. It was he who provided the assist for Solomon’s goal after Rodon’s neat through ball, with Bogle having really come back into some form in the last few games after he and indeed the whole team didn’t look at their very best for a stretch of games.

Speaking on LUTV, Dominic Matteo named Bogle was one of his ‘most improved players’ of the entire season, saying: “He seems at it at the moment, Bogle. When he first came into the team at the start of the season, he seemed a completely different player. Sometimes it takes you a few games to settle, I feel like he’s really settled [now]. Obviously he’s got experience player at a higher level as well.

“I think he’s a key player for us now, and when he first come in I was a bit like, not sure, but now I think he’s been one of the most improved players this year, and I think he brings a bit of something as well.”

He’s a nailed on starter for Farke and someone who’ll no doubt play a key role next season, if Leeds United are promoted, with Bogle boasting Premier League experience with the Blades.

And he’s certainly shown this season that he’s someone who belongs in the top flight. Speaking during the game against Oxford United, Sky Sports commentator Andy Hinchliffe hailed Bogle’s performance, even saying: “He is the outstanding right-back in the Championship.”
