Leeds United fans were treated to a third-straight win in the Championship on Friday night as their side beat Oxford United 1-0.

Leeds United went into another crunch match in the race for promotion to the Premier League, needing another win following their much-needed 2-1 win against Preston North End in the last outing.

Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United beat Cardiff City on Friday afternoon and Burnley won at Watford to keep the heat on Leeds United, who had the lead at half-time thanks to a Manor Solomon goal.

The second half was as subdued a half of football as we’ve seen from Leeds all season. But it matters not as the Whites leave with all three points.

Leeds United fans unimpressed by Junior Firpo vs Oxford United

The first 45 in particular had some ups and downs for Leeds United, and fans picked out the performance of Junior Firpo as something of a negative.

“Firpo not on it today!” posted one Leeds United fan on social media. Another comment read: “Gnonto and Piroe stinking out the gaff. Firpo isn’t performing much better either.”

And many think Firpo hasn’t been at his best for a while now. One fan said of the Dominican: “Firpo is slowly morphing in to his liability-like self over these last few weeks,” as this fan added: “Firpo needs to wake up! He’s been shocking last three games.”

Other comments read: “Firpo has his boots on the wrong feet,” and also: “See Firpo turned up unable to pass ball.”

The latest on Junior Firpo’s Leeds United future

Firpo, 28, remains out of contract at Elland Road this summer. All season long his future has been a talking point and it’s long looked like he’ll be moving on, with Firpo linked with Real Betis and Besiktas to name a couple of teams.

What’s more is that Firpo recently changed agencies, joining an agency that represents a lot of Spanish players at Spanish teams which could be a huge indication as to where he wants to play his football next season.

But after performances like his one against Oxford United, it could be safe to assume that Firpo could be easily replaced by Farke, especially if Leeds United have Premier League football to offer new signings.
