Rasmus Kristensen is the first confirmed departure for Leeds United ahead of the summer transfer window opening in June. He’ll join Eintracht Frankfurt in a £7.7million deal.
Leeds United are expected to have something of a squad overhaul this summer with both comings and goings expected at Elland Road, particularly with promotion now looking more of a certainty for the Whites after a rocky few weeks.
Daniel Farke‘s claims that Leeds United will 100% be promoted look set to come true with Leeds next playing Oxford United on Friday and then Stoke City on Monday, with a chance to have promotion wrapped up after the game against Stoke at Elland Road.
With that would come a flurry of action behind the scenes at Leeds United as the club looks to prepare themselves for an ever-challenging Premier League campaign, which has this season seen all three promoted teams from the year before struggle, with all three in the bottom three right now.
Leeds United would need to spend big. But like last summer, they might need to sell big in order to spend big.

Leeds United officials ‘pleased’ with Rasmus Kristensen sale to Eintracht Frankfurt
On Wednesday it was revealed that Leeds United have sold Kristensen to loan club Eintracht Frankfurt in a £7.7million deal. The Dane has spent the last two seasons out on loan with Roma and this time round Frankfurt, with whom he’s so far played 26 times in the Bundesliga in 2024/25.
Earlier in the year it was revealed that Kristensen wanted to leave Leeds United permanently and he’s now gotten his wish. And Beren Cross writes for The Athletic that Leeds United officials are ‘pleased’ with the sale, despite it marking a financial loss after paying £10million to sign the defender from RB Salzburg in 2022.
Cross writes: “The deal represents a financial loss on what Leeds paid for Kristensen three years ago, but Leeds sources are pleased to have recouped the majority of that fee in this sale.”

The one player sale that could define Leeds United’s summer transfer window
Leeds United seem to have made the most of a tricky situation where Kristensen is concerned and losing little over £2million to get back almost £8million isn’t the end of the world.
And that’s especially true considering the changes going on at Elland Road behind the scenes with Angus Kinnear leaving for Everton and football advisor Nick Hammond leaving too.
But for the Whites, how much money they could truly spend in the summer might depend, quite largely, on how much they could sell Wilfried Gnonto for.
The Italian looks nailed on to leave Leeds United having struggled for game time in the Championship this season. But he remains a player with huge potential and a huge transfer fee.
Back in January, Leeds United valued Gnonto at £50million amid interest from Saudi Arabia. Selling a player they signed for £3.8million for £50million would be incredible business but how likely it is remains to be seen.
