Scott Parker gives his thoughts after Daniel Farke says Leeds United will ‘100%’ be promoted this season

Daniel Farke is always a calm and assured figure, which is vital at this time of desperation at Leeds United. But one comment has fans scratching their heads.

Daniel Farke is going at Championship promotion with Leeds United for a second time after his side lost the Championship play-off final to Southampton last year.

And all was going well up until a few weeks ago, perhaps when Leeds United lost 1-0 at Portsmouth to see what was a 17game unbeaten run in the Championship come to a crashing halt.

Leeds United have now won just one of their last five in the league, drawing their last two games by 2-2 scorelines; against QPR and then Swansea City in their last game.

That draw should’ve been a win but for Illan Meslier’s nightmare performance in goal which has now seen him axed by Farke, who’ll play Karl Darlow in goal against Luton Town on Saturday.

But despite Leeds now sitting in 2nd place of the Championship table, two points behind leaders Sheffield United and level on points with Burnley in 3rd, Farke is convinced about promotion.

Burnley boss Scott Parker responds to Daniel Farke’s brave Leeds United prediction

Last week, and again ahead of the Luton Town game, Farke insisted that he’s ‘100%’ sure that Leeds United will be in the Premier League next season. Sometimes this kind of confidence can be lauded. But many Leeds United fans are left wondering whether Farke has completely lost the plot.

Burnley boss Scott Parker meanwhile has refused to get drawn into it all, as he often does. Speaking to the press ahead of the weekend, Parker was asked to respond to Farke’s bold claims about Leeds United’s promotion chances this season, to which the Clarets boss didn’t have all that much to say.

Parker said: “No interest really, that’s Daniel, and I respect Daniel immensely and I’m sure he understands his quality in his team, and they are a very, very good side, so that’s how Daniel felt. I wouldn’t want to comment on that too much.”

Who do Sheffield United and Burnley play this weekend, and when?

Leeds United’s game against Luton Town kicks off at 12:30pm on Saturday. Meanwhile, leaders Sheffield United will have to watch on as their game away at Oxford United doesn’t kick off until 3pm on Saturday.

Burnley will be looking to extend their incredible 26 game unbeaten run in the Championship when they take on Frank Lampard’s Coventry City at the CBS Arena, in a 12:30pm kick off on Saturday.

Should Leeds and Burnley both win on Saturday lunchtime then the Blades would be in 3rd in time for the start of their game at Oxford United, which could make a huge psychological difference in what is a real banana skin of a game for Chris Wilder’s side.
