Leeds United never looked in trouble against Oxford United on Friday night, despite a narrow 1-0 scoreline in the end.
Leeds United picked up another vital three points on Friday night after beating Oxford United 1-0 at the Kassam Stadium, on a day where both Burnley and Sheffield United won as well.
Daniel Farke’s side have now won their last three in the Championship. Earlier in the month the Whites had dropped down into 3rd place of the Championship table until a 1-0 win at Middlesbrough lifted them back into 1st.
And that win at Boro has sparked a run of form, it seems. Manor Solomon scored the only goal of the game on Friday and although Leeds United weren’t at their very best, they never looked like losing, or even drawing that game.

Jermaine Beckford hails Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu after Oxford United 0-1 Leeds United
It might say a lot about the performance that Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu were arguably the best players on the pitch. The pair are Farke’s centre-pairing right now after Pascal Struijk was ruled out for the rest of the season with a fresh injury, though it’s certainly no less having Rodon and Ampadu at the back.
The pair were in control throughout shutting down any sniff of an Oxford United attack and giving Leeds United the foundation to go on and put in such a dominant, albeit narrow win. Speaking on LUTV, former Leeds United man Jermaine Beckford said of the two: “I thought the way we defended deep with Rodon and Ampadu was fantastic.
“We mentioned before the game started, the last time they started a couple of games together, they played what, nine, 10, 11 hours without conceding a goal, and we can see why.
“The communication, the understanding, the movement, everything about them. They’re so physical as well, on the front foot they’re quite aggressive… the understand of each other’s games is fantastic.”

Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon’s record when playing together
Ampadu and Rodon play alongside each other on the international stage with Wales, as well as playing together for Leeds United, and Rodon is the player that Ampadu has played with the most in his career, and cice-versa.
They’ve now played 115 games alongside each other and they boast an impressive record of 1.86 points-per-game, having played an incredible 9,352 minutes of football together in their career.
And next season Farke may even go with Ampadu and Rodon as his centre-back pairing in the Premier League should Leeds United make it, although expect at least one centre-back signing given the injury record of Struijk.
Leeds United could potentially secure promotion when they welcome Stoke City to Elland Road on Monday night.
