Leeds United had to scrape through another tough game on Friday night away at Oxford United. But they got the job done.

Gary Rowett’s teams are always tough to play against and Friday night’s game at the Kassam Stadium wasn’t any different, as Leeds United found out in their 1-0 win over Oxford United.

The only goal of the game came from Manor Solomon in the first half with the Israeli getting on the end of a Jayden Bogle cross, though the move was started by a delightful through ball from Joe Rodon at the back.

Daniel Farke’s side have now won their last three in the race for the Championship title. It comes after a rocky few weeks previously but the Whites are firmly back in pole position, with just three games left to play now.

Leeds United are back at Elland Road on Monday where they welcome Stoke City at 3pm.

Leeds United fans chanting at sole supporter in Oxford United car park

Oxford United’s Kassam Stadium is quite unique in that it only boasts three stands. One stand behind the goal is simply a car park and during the game on Friday night there were a few Leeds United supporters spotted in there, watching the game from an unusual angle, perched atop of cars and makeshift platforms.

During the second half with the game in a little bit of a lull, Leeds United fans turned their attentions to those in the car park and began a chant of ‘car park, give us a song’. Judging by the subsequent jeers, the fan in the car park duly obliged.

How the Championship table looks after Oxford United 0-1 Leeds United

Earlier on Friday, Burnley won 2-1 away at Watford to extend their incredible unbeaten run this season to 30 games, and more importantly to keep themselves in 2nd place of the Championship table with now three games to go.

Then in the sole game before the Leeds United game, Sheffield United hosted Cardiff City and picked up a much-needed win, ending a run of three-straight defeats with a 2-0 win, after Sheffield United lost at Plymouth Argyle in the game before.

When will Leeds United be promoted remains a burning question for many: the Championship table is as it was before Friday’s games and Leeds would need Sheffield United to not win at Burnley on Monday, and win themselves to secure promotion.
