Sam Chambers was the shining light in Leeds United’s 2-0 defeat to Millwall in the FA Cup on Saturday.

It was a promising debut from Chambers, as the 17-year-old midfielder made his mark on the Whites fanbase after his performance.

Leeds fans dubbed Chambers as ‘class’ as the praise was warranted following such a strong display in a dismal game for Daniel Farke.

The Leeds boss himself is a huge fan himself, as Farke called Chambers’ versatility ‘interesting’ with the youngster being adaptable on both the wing and the centre of midfield.

However, the Leeds manager has now called on the starlet to improve on two areas of his game.

Daniel Farke tells Leeds United youngster Sam Chambers two areas of improvement

In what was a frustrating afternoon for the Whites there weren’t many positives the Leeds fanbase could take from the game, so it’s good Chambers showed something.

Isaac Schmidt played well for Leeds against Millwall alongside Chambers, as Farke has sent a message to the 17-year-old on what he needs to improve.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference for the Watford game, the Leeds manager labelled two things he needs to improve on before being involved in the German’s plans.

“We won’t rush it with him, he has to learn a little bit, there were promising signs,” Farke said.

“For a young player, it’s easier to come into the first team, he needs to work on his physical skills and fitness a bit more.

“He has the skill to create end product, good finisher, and has a good intensity with his runs. This is what he brings to the game.”

Chambers showed he can play a part with Leeds next season

As with every club’s fanbase, they want to see one of their own burst through the ranks, and that’s what Leeds are lacking at the moment.

The procedure with Leeds has normally been to loan players out for development, but that doesn’t have to be the case with Chambers.

He looked the best out of Leeds’ second-string squad, so it gives him every chance to push for a place in Farke’s future plans.

He’s far from the finished article, but as Farke said, there are certainly ‘promising signs’.
