Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier is once again at the centre of a social media witch-hunt following his howlers in the 2-2 draw against Swansea City.
Leeds United were on course to come out of the March international break with a win over Swansea City, who appointed former Whites midfielder Alan Sheehan on a deal until the end of the season before the game at Elland Road.
But he watched his side go behind after less than a minute when Brenden Aaronson scored. An hour later and Harry Darling would equalise for the Swans, thanks to Illan Meslier fumbling the ball in the middle of the box.
Wilfried Gnonto looked as though he’d scored a winning goal in the 86th minute, but 10 minutes later Swansea would score a second equaliser, with Meslier again questioned, though not as blatantly at fault as he was for the first.
Throughout the season, Meslier’s performances have been criticised, yet Daniel Farke has time an time again defended the Frenchman. This time, there may be nowhere left for him to hide.

Illan Meslier will ‘suffer more than anyone’ after Leeds United 2-2 Swansea City
Speaking to the press after the game, Farke was of course questioned on Meslier. But instead of jumping straight to his defence, Farke instead said that now was not the time to talk about the 25-year-old’s performance, and that may well signal a change in attitude of the Leeds boss towards Meslier.
Farke then went on to reveal that Meslier is hurting after his mistakes against Swansea City adding that the Leeds shot-stopper will ‘suffer more than anyone’ after the game. Farke told the press: “It’s not the time after a game to speak about such a topic. He will suffer more than anyone after this.
“He does not need a manager on his back with comments about him. Everyone has seen what has happened. We win, lose and draw together.”

The time is right for Daniel Farke to finally drop Illan Meslier
Fans have been saying it for several weeks now, but it’s finally time for Farke to bite the bullet, and play Karl Darlow instead of Meslier.
Darlow played for Wales during the international break. He’s about as experienced as they come and Leeds fans have seen in his eight total appearances for the club that he’s more than capable, though stepping in at this stage of the season would be challenging.
But Farke simply cannot afford any more mistakes. No matter how average Leeds were against Swansea, they had the lead twice, only to be let down by Meslier, twice.
Leeds are next in action against Luton Town on Saturday. The Hatters sit in 23rd place of the Championship table compared to Leeds in 2nd.
