Daniel Farke names ‘magic’ Leeds ace in squad for first time in two matches as Josuha Guilavgoui decision made

Leeds United’s squad is looking a little depleted again heading into their upcoming Championship match at Bristol City.

The international break earlier this month had handed Leeds the opportunity to get a few bodies back but they will be without some key players at Ashton Gate.

Daniel Farke confirmed Largie Ramazani will miss the next four to six weeks due to suffering ankle ligament damage in the win over Watford, while Junior Firpo is also out through suspension.

They join Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev and Max Wober on the sidelines, who all continue to recover from more long-term injury lay-offs.

Farke will be forced into making at least two changes to his Leeds starting XI against Bristol City having named unchanged line-ups in each of their last three matches.

Farke names Joe Gelhardt in squad as Guilavogui decision made

Despite losing Ramazani and Firpo this week, Leeds were able to welcome a fresh face into the squad as free agent Josuha Guilavogui signed on a short-term deal.

Guilavogui hasn’t played 90 minutes in almost seven months but has been in full team training with the rest of the Leeds squad throughout the last week or so.

According to Leeds Live, the 34-year-old has been named in the squad to face Bristol City on Saturday afternoon, in what will be a welcome boost to Farke’s bench.

Guilavogui provides experienced cover both in midfield and defence and it will be interesting to see whether Farke opts to hand him some minutes.

Another player set to be included in the squad for the first time since before the international break is Joe Gelhardt.

The ‘magic‘ Gelhardt has been omitted from the squad completely in each of the last two matches following Manor Solomon and Dan James’ return, but Ramazani’s injury means there is a new space for him to take up.

Farke names Gelhardt as potential Ramazani replacement

Ramazani will be a huge miss for Leeds today as he had been finding some real form after starting six league matches in a row.

All the focus has been on who out of Solomon and James could come into replace him, but Farke wanted to ensure Gelhardt was also mentioned in his press conference.

He said: “Yes, we will see so thank god we have got Daniel James back and also Manor Solomon. They were both out for a few weeks, it lasts a little bit until they are back at 100 per cent but it’s at least good to have them as options.

“We also have Joffy Gelhardt in the offensive positions as well so we have a few options that I still have the chance to pick from.”
