Leeds United’s Sean Longstaff was arguably the standout player against AFC Bournemouth for Daniel Farke’s side in the 2-2 draw.

The Leeds United midfielder collected a goal and an assist for the Whites against Andoni Iraola’s team, with his second goal involvement being an absolute beauty from the edge of the box.

It looked for all the world like Leeds would cling on and claim three points, but Eli Junior Kroupi snatched a point late on. Sean Longstaff was the standout in Leeds’ player ratings, though.

Longstaff signed for Leeds from Newcastle United for £15 million and his intensity and work-rate have been invaluable in winning duels and midfield battles for Leeds ever since he was introduced to the team.

Sean Longstaff praised for his leadership by Daniel Farke

Former Leeds striker Michael Bridges was on LUTV punditry duty and Bridges adores Longstaff already. Some Leeds fans think Longstaff is the ‘signing of the window’ as well.

Leeds fans waxed lyrical about Longstaff against Bournemouth, but his manager was full of far more praise for what he gave to the team on the pitch and inside the dressing room — per Beren Cross.

Speaking to the media post-match, Farke said: “It’s not about talking. A leader is what you do on the pitch and your behaviour. It is walking the walk. Win a tackle, duel, get the lads going, build confidence. Keep the ball in difficult situations. Sean leads by example.”

Per Leeds Live, Farke added to this further: “Outstanding. Man of the Match. Excellent tactical understanding and leadership.

“It’s more about walking the walk. To show confidence on the pitch. This is what leaders do.

“If he can inspire with great words, great, Sean can do that. Important to show it on the pitch. He had an impressive game today.”
