Leeds United seem to have made an excellent signing with Sean Longstaff in more ways than one.

After a positive transfer window thus far, Leeds’ £15 million capture of Longstaff has been praised.

Newcastle United was his home for his entire career, but the 27-year-old made the bold move to jump to Elland Road.

By doing this, his status has increased, and Longstaff can show his ‘incredible energy’ in Daniel Farke’s midfield.

The former Magpies star can bring many qualities to West Yorkshire, and Michael Bridges has highlighted one that he loves.

Michael Bridges loves something about Sean Longstaff at Leeds United

Longstaff’s arrival will provide both experience and an option that can help Farke both defensively and in the final third.

There was a reason Eddie Howe wanted to keep Longstaff, and former Whites striker Bridges seems like a big fan.

Speaking to Leeds Live about the new recruit, the 46-year-old picked something out from what he said in his opening interview that really stood out to him.

“[Longstaff] wasn’t a leader at Newcastle, but he said he learned so much from being under the guidance of senior players,” Bridges said.

“Now he’s coming into a much younger team, he said he’s looking forward to a leadership role, which I thought was absolutely brilliant because he’s a true professional.”

It seems like the midfielder is the perfect signing for a possible relegation scrap, and his leadership could prove to be crucial.

This is now a developing factor at Leeds, as Longstaff has something in common with the Whites’ other new additions.

Sean Longstaff continues trend with signings at Leeds United

There is a strategic plan with the Peacocks’ new deals, and the 49ers seem to be willing to continue this right until the end of August.

Throughout the summer, Leeds have been stubborn on their targets’ valuations, and might have hit the jackpot after paying just £15 million for Longstaff.

But along with this strategy is a growing trend in Farke’s new arrivals, as some of them possess this leadership trait that Bridges seems to like following his chat with the Newcastle-born player.

Sebastiaan Bornauw idolises Virgil van Dijk, modelling his game around his stature on the pitch, providing that demanding nature in the squad.

Alongside this, Jaka Bijol has been praised as a ‘leader’ as the Whites won’t be short of a presence when they play in the top flight next season.

It’s an underrated trait, but one that Leeds are flourishing with, and Longstaff adds plenty more with his arrival.
