Leeds United manager Daniel Farke had no doubt when asked whether his star centre forward, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, could return to the England squad.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been at the forefront of Leeds’ recent resurgence, starting with his introduction as a substitute against Manchester City.
Despite enduring a slow start to life at Leeds, Calvert-Lewin’s season has burst into life in recent weeks, with Farke declaring that he is one of the best players in the Premier League.
With Lukas Nmecha ruled out of the game against Brentford this weekend, the burden will fall squarely on Calvert-Lewin’s shoulders to fire Leeds to another statement result.
Now, Farke has backed Calvert-Lewin to force his way back into England contention after his recent prolific run.

Daniel Farke backs Dominic Calvert-Lewin for England call-up
Speaking in his weekly press conference ahead of the game against Brentford, Farke backed Calvert-Lewin to earn a late ticket to the World Cup this summer.
According to Farke, the first challenge for Calvert-Lewin will be to maintain his current form for the remainder of the season. If he can do that, the Leeds man should be in the reckoning for a place in Thomas Tuchel’s squad.
Farke said: “It’s a question for Thomas. If he were to ask me, I would give him my honest answer. What I think about Dominic, you all know how much I trust him and how much I value him.
“He has done it before, I think on 11 caps for England, and his goal record is also quite good. For him, it’s just important that he stays fit, that he stays confident and in a good rhythm, and then let it take care of itself, this question. It always depends on how you deliver.

“I think it’s important for a player, not a few good weeks are enough for what he’s capable of, he’s proven in the past, but if he can prove this also during the season, over more weeks and also months, then there is no limit, and for that everything is possible.”
Only two English players have more Premier League goals than Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Calvert-Lewin’s three-goal scoring run has taken him close to joining an exclusive club for Leeds United, and lifted him up the list of leading goal scorers in the Premier League.
Heading into the game against Brentford, Calvert-Lewin is the joint-14th top scorer in the division, after a brilliant start to December.

The Leeds boss was full of praise for his number nine
As things stand, only two English players have scored more Premier League goals than Calvert-Lewin this season, one of whom is Phil Foden, who is not a direct competitor for Calvert-Lewin’s position.
The other is veteran striker Danny Welbeck, who has been in superb form for Brighton this season. If Calvert-Lewin can continue this form, he could still be the backup to Harry Kane this summer.
