Leeds United are looking to avoid moving one step closer to matching an unwanted 100-year-old record when they face Brentford in the Premier League.

Daniel Farke is riding a wave of optimism with his Leeds side, after he steered them to four points from three games against Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.

The Whites have a tough assignment in their next Premier League outing as they travel to London to face Keith Andrews’ Brentford side.

Farke will be hoping to welcome Lukas Nmecha back into his Leeds side to allow the striker to reforge his promising partnership with Dominic Calvert-Lewin up front.

However, Leeds will have to overcome a poor track record in the nation’s capital as they travel to the G-Tech Stadium to take on the Bees.

Daniel Farke’s job is safe for now, can he get a result against Brentford? 🔮

Leeds United looking to end poor recent Premier League track record in London

Leeds’ travel sickness in games in London is a running joke among the club’s fanbase, as the Whites seem unable to pick up points in the capital.

According to the BBC, Leeds have lost their last nine Premier League games in London, stretching back to 2022.

This is the second-longest losing run in the capital in the club’s top-flight history, as the odds appear to be firmly stacked against Farke’s side.

The only time Leeds have lost more consecutive top-flight games in London came between March 1925 and September 1930, when the Whites suffered a 12-game losing streak in away games in the capital.

Leeds’ most recent Premier League win in London came against Brentford in 2022, when Raphinha starred to secure his former club’s top-flight status under Jesse Marsch.

Raphinha was the hero in Leeds United’s last win over Brentford

The Whites were firm favourites to be relegated on the final day of the 2021/22 season, when Marsch took his side to London to face the Bees.

Leeds came into the game in 18th place, level on points with Burnley in 17th, but with a significantly worse goal difference than the Clarets, with Marsch’s side conceding a 20-goal disadvantage.

However, with Burnley losing their last game of the season against Spurs, a point would have been enough, and they went one better, claiming a 2-1 victory thanks to an inspired performance from Raphinha.

Raphinha secured his position as a Leeds legend in 2022 🙌

The Brazilian won and scored the penalty that put Leeds 1-0 ahead, and took the corner that led to a last-minute goal from Jack Harrison to claim all three points for the Whites.

Raphinha ended the day celebrating wildly in the stands with the Leeds fans, before walking the length of the pitch on his knees as a sign of gratitude, after inspiring his side to safety. When so many players leave their former clubs on bad terms, the Leeds favourite showed how to manage an exit with grace.
