Large sections of the Leeds United support are keen for the 49ers and Paraag Marathe to take action and sack Daniel Farke after five Premier League defeats in just six matches.

Sunday saw Leeds return to Elland Road after two consecutive away matches and defeats, against Nottingham Forest and Brighton. Leeds took the lead again, but conceded twice in the second half.

The pressure is mounting on Daniel Farke… should Leeds United sack him?⌛

Leeds have now slipped into the bottom three and things are only likely to get worse over the next few weeks, with Leeds going to The Etihad to face Man City, before hosting Chelsea and Liverpool next week.

More than likely, Leeds will suffer eight defeats in nine games after that run. For that reason, Farke’s future is under the microscope but Chris Sutton said he was surprised by Leeds fans on the weekend.

Chris Sutton was in attendance as Leeds United lost to Aston Villa

Sutton is a supporter of Farke. Both former Norwich City icons, Sutton praised Farke after the win over West Ham and when a fan told Sutton that Farke needed to go, he completely rubbished the idea.

On the Monday Night Club, Sutton shared what he noticed among the fans, having been at Elland Road to commentate. He said he felt Leeds fans didn’t actually go for Farke as much as he thought they would.

“I thought in the main, the atmosphere was okay. Just the noise at the start of the season, the negativity around Daniel Farke, I thought there might be more dissent from Leeds fans. They played really well.

“You sensed the nervousness after Villa’s equaliser. I always thought Leeds would be in a relegation battle. They have been competitive, but the recent run is their worst. If I’m a Leeds fan, I’m not totally distressed.”

Pundits and journalists pile the pressure on Daniel Farke…

“I think it could turn ugly quite quickly with the fans. They have a tough run now.”

“If he changes his style and goes more forward-thinking, that would be a start.”

“I just think you’re dangerously close to that point [sacking Farke]. Very dangerously close to that point because of what we’ve seen.”

Clearly, Sutton didn’t hear the songs Leeds fans sang to Farke

While Sutton doesn’t believe the reception for Farke was that bad, it has been reported that Leeds fans – especially those in the West Stand – were gunning for the Leeds boss. His reactive approach angered fans.

Many sang “make a sub” at Farke before he eventually turned to his bench on 68 minutes. Then at full-time, Leeds fans chanted “you don’t know what you’re doing” at the German gaffer after losing 2-1.

Of course, there is still a degree of sympathy for Farke having got Leeds promoted and dealing with a squad that lacks the firepower he requested. But, his in-game tactics are starting to grate on Leeds fans.

It will be interesting to see how the 49ers react to Farke’s position after the Man City game. A loss, of course, is expected. But if it is a drubbing, fans will surely be pleading for a change once again.
