Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton has delivered his verdict on whether Leeds United can surprise Bournemouth in their Premier League meeting at Elland Road.

Both sides have enjoyed a good start to the Premier League season, with Daniel Farke leading Leeds to 12th place and Bournemouth riding high in fourth heading into the game.

However, Leeds have never lost a home league game against the Cherries, as Crysencio Summerville scored the winner in a dramatic seven-goal thriller the last time the two sides met in West Yorkshire.

Farke has received a double boost ahead of the game, with both Jayden Bogle and Dan James expected to take their place in the squad. However, Willy Gnonto will miss out due to injury.

With Leeds looking for their second win at Elland Road this season, Sutton has delivered his prediction for the game.

Chris Sutton delivers Leeds United vs Bournemouth prediction

Speaking to BBC Sport, Sutton praised Leeds for the manner of their victory against Wolves, after he had predicted Leeds to lose at Molineux last weekend.

However, he has backed against the Whites for the second consecutive week, explaining that he thinks Bournemouth will bounce back from a flat performance against Newcastle last time out.

Sutton said: “I was very impressed by Leeds’ win over Wolves last time out – it really surprised me, but it was a brilliant result that showed what they have got to offer under Daniel Farke, and that they are going to give it a real go this season.

“Even so, I am backing Bournemouth here. The Cherries were a bit flat against Newcastle last week, but they usually create loads of chances, and that’s what I am expecting them to do at Elland Road. 1-2”

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has enjoyed success against Bournemouth

Dominic Calvert-Lewin achieved two individual landmarks against Wolves, scoring both his first goal for Leeds and his first career goal against Wolves.

Farke praised Calvert-Lewin for his impact since joining the club in his weekly press conference, and his career track record shows that he has enjoyed some success against Wolves in the past.

According to Transfermarkt, the England international has scored three goals in his last 10 appearances against the Cherries.

This includes a goal and an assist in Everton’s 3-2 home defeat against Bournemouth last season, which shows he can be effective against Andoni Iraola’s side.
