Leeds United meet Bournemouth at Elland Road for the first time since November 2022, when Crysencio Summerville scored his second dramatic winner in a week.
Daniel Farke is looking to succeed where Leeds failed in the 2022/23 Premier League season, as they eventually succumbed to relegation.
However, Farke has enjoyed a similar start to the one former head coach Jesse Marsch managed that season. Marsch’s Leeds side sat on eight points after five games, one point ahead of Farke’s tally of seven.
Marsch’s Leeds side were booed off at half-time in the encounter in 2022, as they fell to a 3-1 deficit after taking an early lead.
However, an electric crowd at Elland Road helped fuel a remarkable second-half fightback as the Whites turned the game on its head.

Crysencio Summerville stars as Leeds United mount a famous comeback
Crysencio Summerville had come off the bench to give the Whites a famous away win at Anfield in Leeds’ previous fixture as they ended a four-game losing streak, which had burst the bubble of Marsch’s strong start.
It appeared that Leeds would not require any of the same drama in the opening exchanges when Summerville was brought down in the first minute and Rodrigo Moreno fired home from the penalty spot in front of the South Stand.
However, Leeds’ familiar frailty at the back soon surfaced as Marcus Tavernier slotted home unmarked at the back post to draw Bournemouth level. Two further Bournemouth goals, from Phillip Billing and Dominic Solanke, infuriated the Leeds crowd as they gave the team a brutal send-off at half-time.
Few could have foreseen the comeback that was about to unfold, but a brilliant strike from Sam Greenwood gave the Leeds fans hope, and the roof nearly came off Elland Road when Liam Cooper pulled the Whites level.
Leeds then mounted a thrilling counterattack in the dying moments as they looked to pull off a famous win. Picking up the ball on the edge of his own box, Willy Gnonto drove at the heart of the Bournemouth defence before feeding Summerville, who made no mistake with the finish.
In hindsight, some Leeds fans came to lament these two wins, as they prolonged Marsch’s time at the club. However, at the time, it looked like they were finding their form after a difficult run of results.

Leeds United have a strong recent record against Bournemouth
The famous win over Bournemouth meant Leeds defended their perfect record against the Cherries at Elland Road, having won every league meeting between the two sides.
Leeds would go on to lose the return fixture as they slipped towards relegation under Javi Gracia, and subsequently Sam Allardyce, in Bournemouth’s second-ever win against the Whites.
Leeds’ overall record vs Bournemouth:
- Won: 11
- Drawn: 2
- Lost: 2
According to 11v11, their only ever win came in March 2014, as the Cherries claimed a 4-1 win with Massimo Cellino’s attempted takeover of Leeds rumbling on in the background.
As a result, Leeds have won four of their last six against Bournemouth, with 11 wins from 15 games overall.
