The last four-and-a-half games have seen Leeds United climb out of the relegation zone and tally up a gap that will worry West Ham in 18th place. Plenty of players have enjoyed some excellent form.

Gary Neville thinks West Ham, Forest, and Fulham will all be worried by Leeds’ run of form, even if Fulham have climbed into 13th and now sit four ahead of Leeds after their crucial 1-0 win over Forest on Monday.

England need Dominic Calvert-Lewin more than they need Ollie Watkins – surely? 🦁🦁🦁

Leeds now have eight points from four games, but the turnaround started at half-time against Man City, winning the second half at the Etihad 2-1. Unfortunately, that one goal proved to be a Phil Foden winner.

But since, wins against Chelsea and Crystal Palace, as well as draws against Liverpool and Brentford, see Leeds eyeing a run of five games unbeaten going into 2026, when Leeds travel to Sunderland on Sunday.

Alan Shearer names ‘fantastic’ Leeds player in Team of the Week

The change to 3-5-2, the relentlessness of wing-backs Jayden Bogle and Gabi Gudmundsson, the brutal consistency of Ethan Ampadu and the improved form of new signings has helped Leeds climb the table.

Anton Stach and Jaka Bijol, notably, have produced some excellent performances of late and then there is Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Six goals in five, scoring in each of Leeds’ last five Premier League matches.

Shearer named Calvert-Lewin in his Team of the Week, suggesting an England recall is on the cards for the 11-time capped striker. Calvert-Lewin matched Mark Viduka’s 2003 record against Palace on Saturday.

“There’s no stopping him at the moment! Two goals and a fantastic all-round display. Could an England recall be on the cards?” Shearer said, also picking Erling Haaland and Newcastle’s Nick Woltemade.

Daniel Farke wins Alan Shearer accolade weeks after sack reports

Leeds fans wanted Farke’s head after the Brighton, Forest, and Villa defeats. By then, it was five losses in six. The City loss made it six in seven. Yet, the 49ers dug their heels in, opting against a knee-jerk decision.

Now, it looks like a superb decision. Farke has Leeds firing and while he might have stumbled on the 3-5-2 system somewhat thanks to Dan James’ injury, his tweaks in-game since then have helped Leeds.

A change to 4-3-3 against Liverpool in the second half got Leeds back in it and the same at Brentford, prompting an equaliser. Farke went to the brink and hauled himself back into the Elland Road dugout.

Shearer named Farke as his manager of the week: “You wouldn’t know that Crystal Palace had the best away record going into this match by the way Farke’s Leeds team clinically dispatched them.”

With the 49ers possible plans to sack Farke now ripped up, the German will be eyeing a fifth game unbeaten on Sunday when the Whites go to Sunderland. A tough game, but a good time to play them.
