A fifth defeat in six Premier League games prompted the inevitable response from Leeds United fans regarding Daniel Farke’s position as manager, and the 49ers are more than aware of the situation.
While the performance was much improved compared to defeats against Brighton and Nottingham Forest, in which Leeds conceded three times and surrendered a 1-0 lead, it has still resulted in a defeat.

Following the defeat to Forest, the 49ers’ position was that they would like to give Farke until January. However, Leeds fans can often influence a decision, just ask Jesse Marsch after losing to Forest in 2023.
Well, LeedsUnited.News insider Graeme Bailey reports that the 49ers are “constantly assessing” things at Leeds and while Paraag Marathe won’t jump to a decision, the board understands that fans are worried.
“The 49ers are aware of the situation and are constantly assessing. It won’t be a knee-jerk reaction, but they know the fanbase is restless,” Bailey reported to LeedsUnited.News following the loss to Villa.
“The question they are currently asking themselves is whether this squad/team is one of the three worst in the Premier League? There is a real chance that it is,” Bailey continued, with Farke under the spotlight.

“They are willing to invest and bring players in during the window, but do they think Farke can keep them up? They did in the summer,” he added. “But clearly there is a concern now and they are looking at it.”
Paraag Marathe has to avoid Jesse Marsch mistake with Farke
There are growing similarities with the 2022-23 season in which Leeds were relegated in their previous Premier League season. Marsch’s side had 12 points from 12 games, while Leeds have just 11 so far.
Not only that, but Marsch’s side had scored more and conceded less. Andrea Radrizzani admits he made a mistake in holding on to Marsch for as long as he did, eventually sacking the American in February.

Leeds simply cannot afford to make the same mistake. While it might be a mistake to sack Farke now, given a new manager bounce is unlikely against City, Chelsea, and Liverpool, a decision is needed soon.
