The pressure is now firmly on Daniel Farke after Aston Villa came from behind to beat Leeds United on Sunday to win 2-1 at Elland Road, and below are LeedsUnited.News’ player ratings.

Daniel Farke came into the game under huge pressure. Four defeats in five and two losses in a row, but a Lukas Nmecha goal gave Leeds fans and Farke hope that the run of poor form would change. It didn’t.

Villa came from behind thanks to a brace from Morgan Rogers, the second a gorgeous free-kick that Lucas Perri could do little about. Leeds thought they made it 2-2, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin handled.

Leeds fans were not happy with Farke for his team selection, while fans tried to urge Farke to make subs before he did and certainly, the pressure is growing on him. Below are LeedsUnited.News player ratings…

Leeds United’s player ratings in win over Aston Villa on Sunday

Lucas Perri – 4

His kicking was dodgy in the first half and while he might not have done much with the first goal, his positioning was questionable for Rogers’ free-kick. Proving to be a goalkeeper Leeds can’t rely on.

Jayden Bogle – 5

Caught out of position on a few occasions, including a foul on Emi Buendia in the middle of the pitch at 40 minutes. Villa’s equaliser saw Morgan Rogers get across Bogle far too easily to score.

Joe Rodon – 8

The superlatives are running out for Rodon. A superb bit of defending to stop Ollie Watkins, rock-solid and deserved more from his teammates. Could do nothing about Villa’s equaliser.

Pascal Struijk – 6

Back in the side in place of Jaka Bijol, Struijk performed admirably but Villa’s winner came from a foul conceded by Struijk on the edge of the box. Probably showed why he deserves to start over Bijol.

Gabriel Gudmundsson – 7

The Gudmundsson run from deep is becoming renowned and the Swede was excellent again. Offered plenty in both defence and attack. However, Villa’s goal came from Gudmundsson’s side once again.

Ethan Ampadu – 5

The Leeds skipper has been criticised in recent games, and here, he didn’t do much to quell those flames. Allowed Donyell Malen to go free in the box, and the substitute’s cross saw Morgan Rogers score.

Sean Longstaff – 6

Superb free-kick key in unlocking Villa’s defence for Nmecha’s goal. Not particularly involved with Villa dominating the ball, but worked hard and made some nice, incisive passes when he was given the chance.

Anton Stach – 6 (replaced on 23)

Only on the pitch for 20 minutes, but the Germany star reminded all why he is in the team – his height. Stach was key in Nmecha’s goal, challenging Emi Martinez with a massive leap over the Argentine.

Brenden Aaronson – 4 (replaced on 80)

Farke was criticised for sticking with Aaronson, and the American’s display did little to show why. A good effort at goal in the first half, but once again, lost possession far too easily and far too regularly.

Lukas Nmecha – 8 (replaced on 70)

Big call from Farke to stick with Nmecha. Right place at the right time for his goal. Worked his socks off, including a tackle on the right flank towards the end of the first half, and had the beating of Pau Torres.

Noah Okafor – 7 (replaced on 80)

Leeds’ biggest threat of the day, gave Matty Cash a nightmare down Leeds’ left. The Switzerland star went past Cash on several occasions, inside and outside. Did not deserve to be on the losing side.

Substitutes:

Ao Tanaka – 7 (replaced Ao Tanaka on 23, taken off on 70)

Excellent effort from Ao, who brushed aside breaking a Ghanaian’s leg during the break. Tanaka showed some nice touches, some nice passes. But a yellow card is probably the reason why he was taken off.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (replaced Lukas Nmecha on 70)

In the right areas at the right time after replacing Nmecha, unlucky to find the back of the net with his hand and not another body part. But Nmecha proved why he deserves to start over him.

Dan James (replaced Ao Tanaka on 70)

Instantly showed why he deserved to start, highlighting Farke’s mistake. A threat down the right flank and it was his cross-or-shot that slapped Calvert-Lewin in the hand before going in. Needs to start.

Joel Piroe (replaced Brenden Aaronson on 80)

Did little. Shot blocked from 25 yards.

Willy Gnonto (replaced Noah Okafor on 80)

Looked exciting when on the ball. Shown a yellow.
