Defensively, Leeds United have been excellent this season. The best defensive record in the entire division, conceding only 28 goals in 35 Championship matches. Joe Rodon has played a huge role.
The 26-year-old has been a man mountain at the back, helping Leeds keep 15 clean sheets in the 36 games he’s clocked up for the Whites in league and cup. The clamour to sign him is as high as possible.
Tottenham are believed to want £20m for their centre-back but with his contract due to expire in the summer of 2025 at Spurs, that asking price could reduce come the summer. There is interest in him.
Indeed, mystery Premier League clubs are supposedly keeping tabs ahead of the summer window. It has been claimed promotion is required to nab his services. It makes sense, from a financial point of view.
But Rodon’s stance is clear. Speaking to Sgorio over the weekend with Connor Roberts, Dan James and Ethan Ampadu – Rodon said he would love to play alongside his Welsh teammates in England’s top tier.
“It would be a really nice journey, if we did get there. With all the journeys we’ve [four Wales stars] been on, led us to this moment. It would be great for the collective, for all of us to play in the Premier League.”

Rodon has now made it clear he would like to stay with Leeds if the club can get promoted to the top tier of English football. If Leeds do go up, you would fully expect the Whites to strike a deal for the defender.
But failure to gain promotion and you would imagine that Premier League clubs will come sniffing for the centre-back. Rodon’s head will surely be turned – and we would be unable to splash £20m on a player.
Parachute payments reduce, Financial Fairplay rules are strict outside of the Premier League and surely, Rodon will feel he’s earned another crack at the Premier League. Promotion is absolutely fundamental.
