£25m Premier League player could now actually leave on loan, amid offer from Leeds United

Despite the frustration at the lack of signings, Leeds United are seemingly active in the final few days of the window.

Leeds came close to signing Japanese right-back Daiki Hashioka over the weekend until Luton Town jumped ahead in the race, while there are repeated links to other players.

Defenders are clearly the main priority at Elland Road before Thursday’s 11pm deadline, with Daniel Farke having already admitted they are two players weaker than what they started the month.

Both full-back positions and potentially even central defence are on the agenda, and Leeds are reportedly keen on someone who can cover right across the back four in Everton’s Ben Godfrey.

Leeds are very much on the hunt for Premier League loans but there had been reports Everton would only entertain a permanent sale for the 26-year-old, but according to Sky Sports, that is not the case.

Godfrey could leave Everton on loan

Sky report that there is a chance Godfrey could leave Goodison Park on loan before the deadline, despite there having been reports very much to the contrary.

Leeds have already made a loan offer to sign Godfrey and Sean Dyche has given him the green light to leave the club, amid frustrations over his lack of game this season.

However, it would appear the two clubs are yet to ‘meet in the middle’ over a deal, and that could include agreeing an initial loan, with obligation-to-buy, which surely would be the best for all parties.

Godfrey would be a superb signing for Leeds having already worked under Farke before at Norwich City, where he was sold to Everton for £25 million.

There is constant noise regarding Leeds’ interest in the central defender and so hopefully there is a deal that can be done before the window slams shut.
